The seventh and final chapter of the fic written for love_is_epic's birthday, after THIS little comment.

Ohhh, man, this was sweet!

The first kiss was beautiful for their ages (and I kinda loved the detail of it being his first as well, unexpected considering he's usually such a man whore).

The build up over the years is wonderful (if a little slow, I mean, 18 years? Casey! Man up!) and a little tragic, and that piece during Shelley's party was painful. So painful, he'd have to be feeling guilty after finding out what happened, even after going back.

Jayson was cute, but I knew V was a gonna when Casey started to lay the "his mother is an abandoning alcho who only wants us for my money... and, oh, by the way, he might not even be mine, but I took her at her word and love him with all my heart."

Veronica: "Gee, what's that like?"

She honestly had no choice after that.

I felt kinda bad for both of them, that Veronica finally found happiness at her wedding and then lost it only a few years later, I feel her attachment to Casey is based a lot on her grief as well. And I felt bad for Casey because his existence, that you painted in so few words, did sound a little impersonal and detached and lonely. I thought when he had a son he might have found somebody, but he hadn't, and honestly no matter how hard he'd denied it his entire life, he had been taken with V.

Basically... all those words to say: I liked it.

Wow! Such praise! And from the woman who's written (2/3 of - but no pressure) my favorite Casey-fic ever! I'm not worthy! But I'll take it anyway!

You wanna know a secret? The similarities between Jayson and Veronica weren't even planned - I was just trying to think of a scenario that would ensure she'd be out of the picture for the most part. But I like your interpretations better. Makes me sound so much more clever. ; )

And you and Ronda deserve your names at the top for helping me out of my slump. (Seriously, it's been six months since I last posted any fic!) That it made you squee is just an added bonus! : )
