Yes. The standard treatment for any sprain is ICE - Ice, Compression, Elevation. So ice it, wrap a compression bandage around it, and keep it elevated.
Even more strangely, my laptop worked, and it was plugged into the same power strip as the alarm.
Because it was likely running off the battery, which would allow it to work regardless of whether you had power?

I think you must have had a brown out though, and not a black out. It reduces the power without losing it completely. Sometimes only certain things are affected. Weird though, for sure.
