Yesterday - Home Vacation Day #2

Oct 10, 2007 16:51

I didn't give much context to post yesterday or even an announcement that my vacation was coming. And my post yesterday was pretty disjointed.

So here's the basic rundown:

Work has been unbelievably stressful. This year has just been one change after another. It's been so rough at work that I've actually requested to be moved onto a different project. My contact at Microsoft has made my working experience a living hell. In Dublin after my boss had a phone meeting with her he told me what she said.

And I lost it.

Not just a little, but I had a total, swearing-in-public, fuck this, bullshit that, full-blown fit. In front of my boss. I think he got the point then that I was overworked and more than a little stressed. It hit me then that I needed a break. Very badly. I've been hoping for things to get better, but since the rest of life is also nuts and work isn't, I'm going to do what I can to make work suck less, but it doesn't look like anything's changing.

So that's why I have badly needed a break from work. And that's why the vacation. Home ownership is expensive so I'm just staying at home and doing all the stuff I want to do. Yesterday I intended to build a fire and read for hours, but I didn't end up doing that. That was fine because I did other stuff. And now, here's what I did today:

-Got up and helped get kids off, made breakfast, watched No Reservations (one of my favoritest shows ever).

-Got showered, shaved and generally cleaned up.

-Sat down to start this post and continue my journey through Mashup Goodness. I have some amazing stuff. I should see if I can share it somehow. Hmmm...

-Chatted with my homie iskushenie while I was listening and starting this post.

-Ate lunch and watched another No Reservations episode.

-Napped on the couch.

-Made dinner (sweet and sour pork)

-Played WoW (OK so just one picture)

-Watched some TV and ate homemade popcorn with my wife.

Day 3: $2 pitchers and karaoke with my brother, weirdlovemaker
