*shrug* He may not have liked those two game systems, I've never read anything he wrote about them so I wouldn't know, but they took interesting approaches to the ethical system and mythology of the other settings and, by seeking to create a larger framework for all of them to exist in, opened up some great campaign possibilities. No doubt he was more of a Greyhawk fan, that being his original setting, and after he was pushed out by the management types during the 80's they made little effort to include that setting in the wider cosmology that Planescape and Starjammers created, but that doesn't necessarily mean we fans ignored it as well. You'd be hard-pressed to find a dedicated 2nd edition player who thought ill of Gygax, yet dedication to the Planescape setting is just as prevalent among that group (at least, judging by my game buddies and the forum comments when Wizards announced they were discontinuing it
