touching giants and other stuff
I met John Flansburgh last night. He did not speak to me(except for saying hi) and then he totally shot down the dude who was trying to give him one of his own stickers in exchange for the TMBG one("Got a lot to do here,buddy") The show was surprisingly good, much better than last time. They opened with "Subliminal" and went through most of the catalouge, with only like 2 or 3 new songs and a heavy dose of Flood, which they had played in its entirety in Seattle the night before. They closed the second encore with fucking Fingertips, which was fascinating and odd, just like on the record(and not a little frustating, again, just like on the record)
One gets the impression that the Johns are somewhat dickish in real life, they seem to be the kind of idealized marriage that never would have happened if not for the other half of it. Like those couples where you're like "At least they found each other". And yet they have such a rabid, wide-ranging fanbase.......
In other news, I am thoroughly loving the new apartment. Paying for laundry is a new/old still unwelcome new experience, but so be it. Lotsa stuff going on, but nothing really to say about it.
