Too bad this wasn't a date. I went to the movies by myself. Alone. Solo.
I packed my satchel full of goodies and went over to my local CinemaWorld at Lincoln Mall to go see Harry Potter 6. It was good, decent. I ALMOST had the whole entire room to myself but at the last minute another guy walked in, and then a separate quartet of people.
I decided a little spontaneity would be fun. Instead of going home after the movie, I decided to dive into other screens to check them out. Security was lame (in fact I don't think there were actually any more employees there at that point), so why the heck not?
Jumped into "I Love You Beth Cooper" and didn't bother to sit down. I also checked out "My Sister's Keeper" to confirm it was both girly, depressing, and utterly boring, which it was because I couldn't even sit there for an entire scene. Then I walked into "The Ugly Truth", mainly because the cinema was blasting Flo Rida's 'Right Round'. It was the credits so I didn't stick around there either. Then I thought, why not jump into the middle of something brainless? Transformers 2!
I didn't plan on staying as long as I did but I sat down in the lower section and the next thing I know I've watched a good 45 minutes of it. It was pretty stupid and effects-y, much like any Michael Bay film, so it was exactly what I expected. I eventually walked out when the characters started going after what had to be the third or fourth plot coupon MacGuffin since I sat down. So, I finally left after walking around and observing movie posters.
Also on the way home there were traffic cones in the middle of the street EVERYWHERE in my neighborhood. When I got closer to home all of them on one street had been knocked down (probably on purpose) and were all over the road, so dodging toppled cones on a dark street was fun. No seriously, it was.
But all this time I thought to myself, if only this had been a date. If only I had a girl with me. If only I had her with me, it would have been that much better.
