Mickers has had problems with the stairs (three flights up to my apartment with no elevator) this week. It has gotten so bad that I asked my sister to let her stay over at her place (for a fee, of course) for the weekend until I have the keys to my new place on Tuesday. I took an anthropology class back in my early days of school, and the one thing I remember from it is this: The closer one feels to another person, the less one feels the need to have things balanced with regard to gifts.

That's why people who are in love buy each other things but usually want them back (or want something in return) when the relationship ends.

My sister and I just aren't close like that. I think of her more as a friend (and not a close one) than a sister. And it was less expensive for Mickey to stay with her for a few days than at the kennel.

So she's like the coworker that invites themselves to happy hour and people feel obligated to be polite to rather than just telling them they're not invited then 'eh!?

I'm sorry she sucks, but I'm glad you're able to see it for what it is and can make good friends outside of your sister.
