oh, the world of custard.

work has been interesting. we fired one girl before we even got through the first weekend and then another quit yesterday before her shift. awesome.
we get the majority of our supplies delivered on tuesdays/fridays. we placed our order on thursday and came in yesterday to find that they only delivered two cases of chocolate and no vanilla...because they just didn't have it. (i think we ordered 4 cases of chocolate and 15 vanilla.) we're open now, you better get our custard, bitches. hopefully, they delivered it this morning, otherwise mardi will have had to drive to another dairy to pick up custard.

so that was the bad news first. it's actually been going quite well. our opening day was 60 degrees, so...line all day. sometimes the line got shorter, but there was always a line. most of the new staff is picking up on everything quickly. customers are usually entertaining. there was this roly-poly little boy in yesterday...hilarious. his mom came up to get more hot fudge on her concrete and then he came up to add hot fudge to his cup. he puts the cup on the counter and says, "can you custard this?" ..pause.. "i mean...fudge it?" later he was trying to be chatty with me, but didn't quite get the words right again. you know the phrase, "be on your toes?" i think that's what he was trying to say, but he ended up saying, "you better watch your feet. it's friday the 13th!" love this kid. he's not one of the regulars, but i hope he becomes one.
