i'm starving.
i have food, but i'm too lazy to actually make anything just yet.

so i have news. you know, aside from being hungry. (which is nothing new at all)

i am going to participate in medical research. it's the fourteenth trial of a drug for endo. it's has the same benefits as lupron shots without the side effects. (side effects being all the symptoms of menopause and osteoperosis.) cutting and pasting from an email...

Sponsor: Neurocrine Biosciences (www.neurocrine.com)

Investigational Drug: #NBI-56418

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of investigational drug NBI-56418 taken orally once a day compared to placebo (an inactive substance that contains no medicine) for its effects on pelvic pain and quality of life; its safety; and its effect on bone mineral density after 6 months usage.
Investigational Drug NBI-56418: Two (2) film-coated, small, oval, oral tablets daily, active for only 1-2 hours. To be taken 1 hr before eating or 2 hrs after eating every morning (before noon). It’s a non-peptide GnRH antagonist which is a natural stimulus for FSH & LH production. It suppresses estrogen to help retard endometriosis growth similarly to Lupron but without Lupron’s side effects.

3-Arms to Study: Randomized (by computer) into one of the three groups -

1) 2 oral tablets of investigational drug (totaling 150 mg) 1x/day for 24-wks; OR

2) 2 oral tablets of investigational drug (totaling 250 mg) 1x/day for 24-weeks; OR

3) 2 oral tablets of placebo for 12-weeks; then be randomized into either 1) or 2) above for 12 weeks.

Length of Study: approximately 9 months -

1) Treatment Phase: 8 monthly visits/32-weeks - every 28 days (7 day window) -

7 months of treatment with tablets + 1 month of placebo tablets during this time - blinded as to which month;

2) Post-Treatment Phase: A follow-up visit 6-weeks later;

3) Subjects with a decrease of >3% in bone density, will return 6 months post-treatment for additional DXA scan.cut text>

i'm pretty excited. ben is going to take me to my first appointment next wednesday. it's out in oak brook. i don't actually start the treatment until sometime towards the end of march, though.

other things...
i decided to go back to scooters as the general manager. part of that decision comes from wanting to accomplish goals that i've had, and another part comes from the spa driving me crazy. if there was a way for me to do both, though, i would. training day for scooters is on the 29th and then opening day is on the 7th. should be interesting.

margaret and scott are going to be in new jersey all this next week. they should have already been in the car for about three hours, but they're still here. doing...everything. packing, showering, computer things. i might go crazy while they're gone. i do not like extended periods of time alone.

breakfast. nom nom nom

endo, scooter's
