the weather is wonderful out right now...to me anyway. rainy and cold and just starting to turn dark. after all the heat, it's a welcome change. i like wearing jeans and hoodies.
had a good time at kyla's party friday night. talked to random people and re-met people i met when i went to her show in july with emily. it was a little tricky getting to her new apartment because her written directions told me to turn left at one point when i needed to go right. i figured that out after about half a mile. was sad that nate and his roommates didn't show up, but he got tied up at work in a stupid situation. didn't stay that late because of that and ended up back at home around 2.
going back earlier on friday... you know, i've never been tempted to use the word clusterfuck before, but i think it's appropriate in describing my photo class this semester. it's not exactly what i expected. the colour photo class is now combined with the digital photo class. technically, they're still separate...except they meet at overlapping times, in the same room, and have the same teacher. i still think i'll like it and i'm still going to be learning things i'm interested in knowing. it's just...such potential for disaster.
margaret and i headed up to madison on saturday. went to a fantastic yarn store called lakeside fibers. really nicely arranged with a great selection. the basement is a working weaving studio and i got to look at a bunch of weaving yarns up close. i ended up buying a really great book on weave structures, some wool/mohair/cashmere yarn on sale for $5 and a birthday present for margaret. got her a silk needle roll for knitting needles and notions. most people won't understand how cool this is, but that's okay. just trust me on this one. margaret picked up a few things as well, and then we hung out in the cafe that is attatched to the place. it's actually a separate business, but they share space and it's pretty nice. margaret and i drove around for a bit after this and just headed home. yarn is enough excitement for us.
my parents actually stayed the night last night which was unexpected. my dad had a meeting in the city this morning, so it was easier to split up the drive that way. also, my sister's birthday is today, so it worked out for that. didn't see much of them because i worked all day sunday and had class this morning. it was pretty low key.
sunday at work...was hard. not feeling well at all. boo to that.
right now, i'm waiting for lauren to call me so we can get dinner once she's done with work. i like dinner.
know what else i like? miniature golf. really looking forward to that for friday night after class. going to this insane indoor place where everything glows in the dark.
