Year-end reflection as promised

I know this is a little late in coming, but I want to take a few moments to muse on some of the things that have happened to me this year and some of the things I’ve learned. For starters, reflection is a really powerful tool that allows me to evaluate what went right and what I can improve on in the future; good things and pitfalls to avoid and ( Read more... )

Kay, you really are amazing. I think it's so terrific how you were able to learn so much about yourself and your developing interests this year - and to express how much you learned! It sounds like it was a fantastic year, and a really important one for you as a student and a person.

So…is it okay if I don't keep our end of the bargain after all? Because after reading all this incredible stuff, I don't really want to do any reflecting of my own. It won't look good, and it'll probably depress me. But I don't want to fail to make good on our deal… What do you think?

Ellen - Bunny, you promised me! ;) Like I said, reflection can be really productive. I think that if you approach it with a good attitude, you will learn some new things about yourself and that is really healthy. I hope that you will take a few moments to write about the year, even if it's in a private journal... I think it would be really good to process all of it, successes, failures, and in-betweens, just so that you really know what happened. For example, if I had to put a thesis statement on my life for the last year, I would say, "I did a bunch of random stuff/took some risks and explored, and it made me really happy. The end." So maybe by reflecting you will come to some kind of conclusion, preferably a hopeful one... Closure is always good. But whatever you think is best. :)

Oh darling! You're becoming the sort of person I wish I felt more called to be. I'm so glad you're getting this all sorted out, because the world needs you and you have the willingness and motivation to do it!

And if I can every help...let me know how and I'll try.
Chris's boyfriend, Jake, lives in Waterloo?

Do you need anyone in Mason City? Maybe? My former step mom lives up there.

As for my introspection, it would probably go along the lines of "I did a few random things, spent a lot of nights just at home, felt lonely, and was disappointed some times, but my english classes were really cool. The end."
