Too close for comfort

SO!

Closed up the pub tonight with Lizzie, and ended up retty shaken up.

We were closing and went upstairs to lock up the days cash in the office. While we were up there, we heard a close series of thuds, and didn't think anything of it (old houses, like the one the bar is in, make strange noises, right? We finished putting everything away upstairs and came back down to the (locked) main floor. Upon entering the main bar space, we heard something tht made both of us stop short; the juke box was playing (an unprecedented occurance, despite the constant jokes about the ghost that may reside there). We looked at eachother, a little uneasy and went to close the final back door that we always keeep only the screen door closed on. As Lizzie opened the screen door to close the main door, we both both stopped short and looked at eachother with fear in our eyes; the series of thuds we had heard were the exact ones that we had heard upstairs. The realization that dawned on both of us, was that someone who had come in the bar! we mouthed a couple cautionary words to eachother and left immeadiatly, as quietly as possible.

The kicker is, The Grad (name of the pub) has thought people may be getting in after close for a week or two, up till now, never when anyone was there (just random things moved). Also we closed, due to customer flow, about two hours late.

So, Lizzie and I are now sitting here with a bottle of Pino Grigio, (my) pack of cigerettes, and some shaken up nerves. I'm glad we were there together, but that was a bit too much for me for now.

(To answer all of your questions: the juke box was playing, "Things Will Never Be the Same" by Oasis)

Goodnight All, I love you. Thank you to all of those who know I'm level headed enough not to be making this up, or being paranoid.
