It's all a mixed tapestry.

There's a social ineptitude there for sure, but also the problem of being a fairly close-knit and insular community. We're too far apart to relate on a normal social level, but too close to have any sensible distance from one another. As a result, fandom's naturally going to be bubbling with constant spats in one direction or another.

Although a voice from my kitchen just announced "we fight because some people need their asses whooped".

Some fight because they're knobs, wankers, arshole and dickheads. But they don't actually fight. They insult, usually with some fake smile and then act all indignant when you call them out on their insincerity.
