Television has ruined my evening.

So, I bought a huge TV on trademe.co.nz for $2. I then drove 40min each way to pick it up. That was the easy part.

The hard part was working out where to put the bloody thing. We've not had a TV in the house since the first big quake last September. To be honest, I'd got used to not having one, and didn't miss it at all. However, I'm planning on starting the P90X fitness program, and need a TV/DVD player setup to be able to do it properly.

After much grunting/swearing/stressing/shoving/tantrum-ing, and about 3945458 room layouts later, we finally settled on putting the huge bloody behemoth contraption in the smaller living space/dining room/sunroom. We tried it in the main living room, but after ten minutes sitting in there with it, we both hated it. It just....it's so nice not having a TV in the living room we spend most of our time in. We used to be in the habit of just sitting there in front of it, and it's nice to do other things instead. This way, we'll be less likely to watch it just because it's there.

Now the house is satisfactorily arranged, the cats have stopped thinking we're moving house (Cilla nearly got crushed behind furniture about 20 times, because...she's Cilla), and things are as they should be. We have a huge TV should we ever decide to watch it. I'm tempted to just NOT get an aerial for it, so we can only use it for movies, and not for useless time-wasting.
