I hate that the first time I post in ages has to be on a negative note, but sadly it is. The last time I went home, which was about a month ago, I noticed that my dog had lost a lot of weight. She was overweight for the type of dog she was, and was sort of the butt of many a fat dog joke. I didn't want her to be this way and I hated that the veteranarian would always scold me about her weight, but I loved her just the same, fat or not. Anyway, so the last time I went home, I hardly recognized her she had lost so much weight. My mom had told me that she had been sick for a few days and that she wasn't able to keep anything down. When I was home, though, she was eating fine and seemed a little less active, but mostly the same. I told my mom to keep an eye on her and if she lost any more weight to take her to the vet. Well, she lost a lot more weight and she was drinking water all the time and then, of course, peeing all the time, too. Mom took her to the vet today and he diagnosed her as being severly diabetic. She is going to have to have insulin shots twice a day for the rest of what's left of her life, which the vet says probably won't be more than a couple of years. For you guys that know me, you know how much I love my dog and this breaks my heart. I have missed my dog so much since I moved here and have been desperate to have her here, but I couldn't afford the pet deposit and I wouldn't have the time to take good care of her, so I left her where she was.

I miss my Gracie.
