Lately when I've been watching t.v., which hasn't actually been that much surprisingly, I've been obsessed with The Discovery Channel. My television pretty much stays on channel 32 (The Discovery Channel). I am loving the shit out of Deadliest Catch, Cash Cab, Hot It's Made, and Mythbusters. I don't know what it is about them, but I just love them ( Read more... )

Awww. I don't "make fun of you" per se. I tease you about your love of Discovery. You're like my dad. You, madam, are a 62-year-old man in a brilliant disguise. :p

Look! Angel watches Cash Cab!!

I was telling Crystal about Cash Cab yesterday. My Mom started loving it and now I'm all into it. I love when they get into the cab and he turns on the lights and it looks like they're ready to jump out and run.

It makes me wonder, do they get their permission before all of this starts or do they surprise them with the game and then go into all the legal fluff?

Oddly enough, I looked this up the other day!

They do "surprise" them, but then Ben goes into a legal schpill that you see part of on the show, but not all of. They have to agree to it to play. You see that part, but you don't see all the other business where they explain the game. They actually call it the "screening process." I'm assuming there might be instances where they pick up someone and figure out they're not suitable for filming as well (i.e. drunk or mentally incompetent).

Legally, once someone says "Yes" on film to being filmed, you can film them without a release. For instance, if I went up to you on the street with my video camera and I was filming and I asked you, "Can I film you for a video documentary?" or something on the sort and I have you saying yes, I'm legally in the clear.

I know! I love it. I have a few others, too, but haven't finished rotating my icons, yet.
