..in like a bajilllion games of pool this evening. That was fun. For the last week or so, I've been cooped up in my house in Rosenberg, TX climbing the walls. Well, I did just get out of surgery, so i was more like contemplating climbing the walls. Now I'm back in Austin and the tables are turned. My dad is like a caged animal when he has nothing to do.

Can't argue with me about how I live my life, because he feels guilty that a temper tantrum might bust stitch or something. All attempts to call my mother and nag her have failed because she has conveniently shut off her cell phone. His old man mafia is in Houston, so he can't go take off with them at will. So it's been a lot of pacing and pacing and pacing and pacing.

I joked about taking him to a movie. You know there's this great western movie out...

He reminded me that the last time we went to go see a movie was Jurassic Park and he slept right through the children in the theatre screaming at full lung capacity. Nix that.

So we went to eat....seems like the logical conclusion. People eat. I don't know if I was really that hungry, but eating always seems like a good idea. Why do people do that. Suggest eating when you know they aren't hungry. Because...

So we ate. Hai Ky. yum...even if I wasn't hungry.

Finally, as a last hurrah, I finally got my dad to shoot pool. He plays a type of pool that involves no pockets and has a point system. The idea of aimlessly pointing colored balls into holes puts this mortal fear in him. Plus, you just don't see girls playing. At all. Where he plays, they're called bar girls and they are just there to get you to buy them drinks. So his daughter asking him to join her in unfamiliar territory is like asking a straight man to go see brokeback mountain - which I already attempted that night to no avail.

So one out of two ain't bad.

So it turns out my dad is a cheap date. Seven bucks for a beer and pool for the rest of the night = a very happy dad. He finally wore out and I could take him him without him pacing about as much. In fact, he's glued to the discovery channel. That's like a double sucker punch for me.

And plus, I got to hang out with my daddy. And that ain't half bad.

-the end-
