For Mother's Day, I decided that seeing Star Trek would at least be out of the norm. So, Dan and I went. No children. They have not seen the series, so why spend the money on a movie that none are really wanting to see, anyway? We are old Trekkies, and were wondering what they did to our series.
OMG! GO! GO NOW! GO NOW AND SEE THE MOVIE! FIND THE MONEY/TIME/THEATER AND GO!
It is wonderful, with all of the nuances of the series that are either alluded to or outright displayed! I came out of the movie:
1) wanting to see it again (I'd even pay the theater a second time...)
2) announcing that we will be owning this puppy when it comes out.
The reboot works, and "the story" is changed (but not completely). The characters are what they are supposed to be and the plot is pure Star Trek. IL&M is amazing (as always), the score was engaging, the costumes were correct (yes, period even) and, well, it is worth seeing.
So, I repeat:
OMG! GO! GO NOW! GO NOW AND SEE THE MOVIE!
