Listen, where it asks you to type "interests," I have had to type nine different names for the same person. I could play Hollywood Squares with all these names and the only thing it would be is one guy running from square to square, and no Joan Rivers.
Ralph Vaughan Williams
Ralph Vaughn Williams
Ralph Vaughan-Williams
Ralph Vaughn-Williams
Vaughan Williams
Vaughn Williams
Vaughan-Williams
Vaughn-Williams
Ralph Williams
Which two are correct?
The first and fifth ones are. RVW had two last names. This was sort of a family tradition, kinda like Hank Williams and Son. There is no hyphen. Vaughan is spelled "Vaughan," and it is not a middle name.
I think the pronunciation issue, i.e. Ralph as in Ralph Kramden, or Ralph as in Ralph Fiennes, is in dispute, actually. I've always referred to him as Ralph as in Ralph Fiennes, or just by his initials. But somebody said that that story about how he got all pissed at some American for calling him Ralph as in Ralph Kramden was not really true.
I need to get up early tomorrow.
