06. The Ruse ["accidental" video]

[angle_on_it]

[The video feed flickers to life and there's plenty of whispers and giggles, but no one on screen yet. It's daytime and the empty scene plays against a backdrop of a bright sky over a dusty and barren piece of flat land. The video comes through from a worms-eye view, as if the device is propped up on a rock.]

Shh-shhhh... it's on, it's on! Go, go!

[ Yeah. Nemu is rather ...she's just going to play along. If she wishes to call herself Sokka, than she will. But then again... she could always be a different person so. . . . ]

Sokka-san, you bear a striking resemblance to Bubbles-san.

[angle_on_it]

[Sokka has to throw off the scent, right? He shakes his head and rubs his eyes as if trying to clear his vision.] Really? I'm not sure I'm seeing what you're seeing. Maybe it's because they both wear blue a lot?

[slavishly]

I have never seen Sokka before, therefore the brief glimpse I have just received is my first time seeing him.

[ She nods her head and reflects silently before nodding again ]

Yes. The frequency in color could have something to do with it.

Yeah, the color must be it. Although, they both act alike, too. I'm always seeing that Sokka guy flying around in pigtails and excitedly telling all of his friends he wants a unicorn as a pet. Like he really wants to be Bubbles or something. [He laughs, and oh spirits, hopefully this won't turn into any ridiculous rumors, because Sokka won't be able to be mad at anyone for it since he started the rumor himself!]

[slavishly]

I have not met Sokka. I will keep this in mind when I meet him. [ Yeah. It's not really... working for her. Luckily, she doesn't use sarcasm or anything but she's by no means stupid. However, she's used to enduring really childish whims, thanks to Yachiru, so she'll still play along. Besides, as silly as this, she wouldn't actively stand up to it. ]

How old is he?

[angle_on_it]

Old. Like seventeen, or something. He's practically knockin' on the door of death, right? [Yeeeeah, Sokka's so old and mature. Not even a stranger's going to believe that, I don't think.]

[slavishly]

I see.

[ Okay, she can't play along anymore. Without a change in tone - visual or audio - she blows his cover. ]

[He doesn't seem to mind! His face lights up and he waves.] You, too!

[slavishly]

[ She disconnects the feed ]

[She quickly corrects herself, deepening her voice and making it sound gruff and manly.]

I mean... I do?

Bubbles-san, is that you?

[ She sees right through this but she has to put up with similar antics by Yachiru. Of course Nemu would indulge in silly just for her ]

Ummm... No, Nemu! I'm Sokka right now!

[She leans towards the PCD and whispers.]

I'll be Bubbles again later, though!

[ What is this? This does not make sense to Nemu. WELL IT DOES but still playing along ]

Sokka and Bubbles-san are the same person?
