icarusancalion has posted an explanation/apology/amends for something she did, attacking and slandering a Buddhist temple and its Lama over a period of years because she couldn't face her own responsibility for her failures as a nun and a Buddhist ( Read more... )

Are you kidding me?

This white woman pulls shenanigans because she couldn't get her bullshit appropriation right and now the world should signal boost her "oopsie, my bad" apology?

She's best shunned and ignored because it seems she's gotten quite enough attention as it is.

I'd have been more impressed (which would add up to "not hardly") if she'd have turned comments off, made her confession and not wallowed in all of the "Ooooh, you're so brave and you poor tortured thing" cookies being thrown at her.

Because, hell....who cares about the problems/pain of the PoC she demonized after she got her chocolate in their peanut butter Mommy Issues conflated with her Cultural Appropriation Hijinx.

I see your point about comments. [nod]

The point of the linking, though, isn't so much her apology in and of itself, but rather that these other people she was conspiring with before still have shit out there on the internet about this place and the Lama, informed by her earlier lying and twisted truths. Anyone who Googles that temple or the Lama's name comes up with that stuff, and the other people won't take it down just because she's changed her mind. She wants her confession to show up on Google results as a counterbalance to that, so someone coming in -- say, someone who's thinking of joining that temple community and wants to see what other people are saying about it -- will have a chance to see that at least one of the people bad-mouthing it has recanted and explained why. I think doing that much to fix the damage to the Lama's reputation and her temple worth the possibility of feeding an ego action.

I'm turning off comments, you're right about that. The linking is to try to deal with a lot of public criticism going Jetsunma's way as a result of my actions. Jetsunma herself is not a PoC, though her name sounds as though she is, but most of the Lamas and teachers I've had are Tibetan.
