My poor baby :(

So we went shopping on Sunday, picked up a few of the boys Christmas presents, afterward we went out to dinner. Our food had just arrived, when Caine decided to stand up and take his diaper off. Well he was trying to, anyway, he was attempting to pull his pants off and tugging on the tapes. We figured he must have pooped, because that is the only time he is adamant about having his diaper off right now! So I took him back to the bathroom, stood him on the counter, and took his diaper off (no changing table). Well his diaper wasn't poopy, just wet, which I found odd, untill I actually looked at him.

His penis was swollen and red. I about had a fucking heart attack. So I pulled up his pants, took him back to the table and told Pat we needed to take him to the doctor. Of course, being the dumbass that I am, I hadn't signed their medical cupon and put it in my wallet, or even taken it out of the envelope yet (well I had just gotten it). So we had to go back home first, but that was okay because his doctors office was closed and we had to take him to the ER, so it was just easier to drop Rowan off at the IL's first.

We got to the hospital, the ER was hopping, as usual. Luckily, Pat's cousin does admitting for the hospital, and we ran into her at the check-in desk. She very kindly pointed us to the after hours pediatric clinic in the hospital, that we didn't even know existed. Apparently they don't advertise. Thank goodness she did, we were there all of 10-15 minutes from start to finish.

The doctor comes in, examines him, and tells us he has ballanitis, I think he called it. Yeah, I've never heard of that, so I'm ready to do the big freak out thinking my son has something terrible. Well it's not great, but nowhere near what I was imagining. He has an infection under his foreskin. They took a culture to rule out anything else, gave him a dose of antibiotics, told us to give him several warm baths a day, handed us a perscription, and sent us on our merry way. Seriously in and out in no time.

He's looking alot better, still a bit red and swollen, but nowhere near where it was Sunday night. It doesn't bother him either (unless he's sporting a wet diaper, but we are working on potty training, so not that bad), and he's peeing normally. Taking lots of baths is no skin off his back either, and he takes his medicine, as long as we give it to him in a cup. Thank goodness, I really was on the verge of a major freak out there, but he's going to be fine.
