From Malacca, With Love
After two rather stressful days of work, I finally got my long-deserved break and headed out to KL for a vacation. It's just...really unfortunate that I had to fall sick the moment I arrived.
Took Odyssey for the first time, and it wasn't bad at all. They had WiFi onboard, which was unstable until we reached KL, but I'm not complaining 'cause stable internet would be impossible when traveling on the road anyway. Food, meh. Entertainment, not bad at all -- watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory while internet was out, loved it a lot. Arrived exactly 5 hours later, then had to wait a while for Bro to pick me up and bring me to his place here in Mont Kiara. I quite like this place already.
My throat started hurting that evening, and got just a little worse by the next day, but I insisted on going to Malacca anyway with Bro and Nikki and her husband. Two-hour car ride is no kidding. Left at 8am plus, arrived at about 11am, immediately went for brunch of chicken rice and rice balls. Not too bad, I guess. Then walked around Jonker Street, bought some stuffs, eventually got hungry again at 2pm and stopped for chendol and noodle. Bro bought asam laksa, which he shared with me, but it was so sour. Which is exactly how it's supposed to be. After that, went to climb to A Famosa, which Bro commented that it looked exactly like what they had in Macau, and confirmed by some Chinese tourists whose conversation I overheard. Then went down to the Portuguese ship replica by the river, had to pay a small entrance fee to enter, since it was a museum inside. Nothing much though, as expected from a museum. Bro didn't go with us. Afterwards we decided to head back since we were all tired, passed by Casa del Rio hotel to check out the overly luxurious bathroom...! Then finally returned to KL.
Got up this morning feeling much better than yesterday, hopefully I'll get better completely so I can enjoy my time here more. Oh, spent some time playing MW3 too, hngh. Per...haps I can finish it over vacation. Must finish it.
