I can still not get used to the fact that it darkens only at 7:30pm here. Anyway, after much slacking from exhaustion, here's an account of my Taiwan trip.
Day One
Left early for Changi Airport. The flight from Singapore to Taipei is about 4 hours long, so I watched How to Train Your Dragon on board, which is really good! Once we got to Taipei, we realized how hot the weather is. Summertime, yes, but was it supposed to be that hot? Even without the sun shining on us, we could still feel the heat. Anyway, Uncle picked us up, we got to the patron house where we stayed, dealt with our rooms, and realized that there was only one available room that's only enough for 3 that night because the missionaries took everywhere else, so Mom and Dad stayed at Uncle's while Bro and Sis-in-law stayed at 2nd Cousin's. Had dinner with Uncle's family, and that was all.
Day Two
Morning was the endowment session at the temple, which I was really, really excited for. Too good, too good. We finished at 1pm, which we came out and had beef noodle for lunch near Uncle's shop. Afternoon, 3rd Cousin rented a van for us plus Uncle to go out. We went to Ang Moh City (紅毛城) and then Danshui/Old Street (淡水/老人街) and then Yangming Hill (陽明山) for a short while. Then a quick dinner somewhere with Aunty, and then shopping at some streets which name I don't know till now. Then by night, Lil Sis and I slept in different room with Sis-in-law while Bro slept in another room - he was sick anyway.
Day Three
Went for the endowment session again, and then the family sealing, which was so wonderful that I thought I was going to cry by the end of it. I can just feel a bond among us already. Then we met Sis-in-law's friend and her family, her baby boy was so darn cute! He's the first baby that laughs at however I try too! Then I ran to Uncle's shop, where my Taiwanese friends were waiting. They are indeed taller than me...... We chatted until my family came over, and Dad allowed me to go off with my friends. So they took me to the area around Taipei Train Station (台北車站) where we hunted for food in the mall, and then they showed me a magazine shop that has Mukai Osamu's photo album...they had to literally drag me away from it 'cause I couldn't bear not buying that cute face, yet I didn't have enough money to. Then we went to Animate, which was a huge manga shop with a BL section and doujinshi section! I so very wanted to buy the doujinshi, but not without having my family see it... Went to the merchandise section instead and got myself a Yukimura phone charm! So much love to Basara! When we're done, they brought me back to Uncle's shop where Dad was waiting for me, chatted some more again, then went off for dinner with family, and then to some night market which name I cannot remember. Bought some clothes, that's it.
Day Four
3rd Cousin rented a van again and Aunty accompanied us to Gugong Museum (故宮博物館), which is mostly history stuffs. Good thing I had my student card with me 'cause I could get half price on the ticket. Spent hours there before we had some late lunch at the top floor cafe. Right after, I think we sent Bro and Sis-in-law to the bridal photo place, Big Sis back because she was tired, and then to Shenkeng (深坑) to the apparently famous street for tofu, which...was disgusting to the max. Lil Sis seemed to like it. And we found the softest, nicest guavas we've ever had! Even pestered Dad to buy them. Then we got back, had lunch again with Uncle's family, and then done for the day.
Day Five
Bro and Sis-in-law were only going to come back on Monday, so that day they went off early to get their wedding photos taken instead. The rest of us packed up, had lunch with Aunty, checked out and then left for the airport after bidding Uncle goodbye. I love my uncle and his family, they're really a nice bunch. Humorous, too. Wish I could come back.
So I came back to school today, hoping to find Dr Simon regarding my final year project, but he wasn't in, and probably not for the next couple days. Talked to Prof Chris though! He is so darn cute, as usual - he had a haircut too! Wish he wasn't so busy. Hung out with Steph, went to Project Management class by Dr Thomas...too many people in that class, their noise bothered me. Some had to bring extra chairs in too. Hope Dr Thomas finds a new venue soon.
Everyone's talking about having girlfriends or boyfriends already. ...I feel lonely. For some reason. Whenever I hear about it. Is there really no one?...
Sigh.
