My Nerves are Breaking

I'm probably being too much of a worry wart, but.
I'm scared to bits.

Cons are scary when you're a one-man circle. Or maybe that's just me. Though I do have a friend who would help me out. But seriously, the Reborn Only con is this Saturday. Leaving this Thursday for KL and then to Hangzhou Friday morning then Shanghai by bus from there. It's the ( Read more... )

FFF. Osnap, you're going far, lucky! ;u; <333 Let's see-- I hope I can help a little with things:

1) Bring enough spare change. Or more than enough. Depending on how you set your prices, that is. I usually set mine to like... $4.50, etcetc. So, I needed coins and all.
2) Set up promotions. If you're selling more than just doujinshi, you could offer say... A free something for purchases more than ___. Or to make it more exciting, get a free "random" gift. That way, you can dump all your free stuff in a bag and let them choose without looking. Discounts for bulk orders would be nice too, but not too much or you won't profit. *u*
3) Pass around personal cards. Like a business card or some sort? It would be great to have a link back to your deviantART/website/email for good networking. You can also slide one to your customer for visiting your booth even if they don't purchase anything.
4) Plastic bags. Do get them ready. It's much more efficient than having your customers to carry just the stuff they bought.
5) Bring a different coloured table cloth. I'm not sure if the con provides this for you, but with a different coloured one, this will one way or another-- attract your customer's attention. Having a sign with your booth name is also a plus to be noticed from afar.
6) Commissions. Commissions are good attraction too. 'Cept that I've never done them at cons, but if you're a one-man circle, it would be a good way to keep you preoccupied while you await for customers, I guess. If you do do commissions, prepare an order list and make sure they sign it if they have paid. I know a friend whom her customer claimed she had paid, but didn't. The list could help you keep track of that.
7) Bring stationery. Pen, pencil, paper, etc. Would be needing this if you do commissions or something. Alsosometimestheymightaskyoutosignyourdoujinshilol.
8) CALCULATOR. Omg, LMFAO, I always forget this and I end up having to calculate 20982938 equations in my head. Wouldn't want panic to attack you like that.
9) Make sure your prices are written down clearly. That was your customers don't have to keep asking "How much?" and all.
10) Greet with a smile! HEHEHE. I used to stand up and greet, but I think Malaysians find it uhh... intimidating? So, I kinda just smile and nod now LOL. :C

I think that's all I can think of... I'm not sure how are you selling your doujinshi-- is it wrapped? If it is, you can have a book or two as "sample" for them to view.

Cosplaying helps, but the last time I tried, I had a headache and all AND to manage your booth at the same time while doing so would be a little tedious. But, it's up to you. c:

I hope some of those help! WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST! *u*/ <333

1) I'll definitely do that though I'm not sure how Renminbi notes look like yet. ;;;
2) Planned!
3) All my stuffs have links to my site lol, but I'll see!
4) Uwaa, where do I get those. ;; I'll see to it!
5) Don't know if we get to change our table cloth, but my table is near the entrance and I'm already planning a big poster to put there.
6) Commissions are hard for an Only event, especially when I can't draw most characters. ;; But I thought of something similar!
7) My stationery never leaves meee.
8) LOL. My phone has a calculator, though I'm pretty good at calculating anyway.
9) Planned!
10) But ehh, scary people. ;; Will do though!

I don't know if they're wrapped since friend's the one who got them printed and all that, but yeah, there are samples (my personal copies, haha).

And no, I can't cosplay because it's too cold and I don't fit anyone orz. I'll let my lucky black cat plush do the job though!

Thanks so much with the tips!! You really are a god at this! *_* I'll jot them all down! Wish I can get you somethinggg.
