Well here's the recap from our 1st weekend of work:
- Jerm scraped 80% of the nasty textured ceiling off. Made a giant mess all over the house, but it looks SOOOOO much better.
- My grandmother, mother, and I peeled wallpaper til our fingers threatened to fall off. No one ever mention wallpapering to me again. I was up on top of the cabinets yesteray removing wallpaper from a 3-4 ft. area for THREE HOURS. That stuff was NOT coming down but I made it. Thanks fingernails!!
- Dad rebuilt the toilets (by choice) only to discover the kitchen sink leaks (not previously disclosed) and the faucet in the master bathtub will not shut off. Yippee. I love my daddy.
- We peeled up a corner of the carpet just to see what it looked like (no hardwood, already knew that) and found piles of dirt. Therefore ALL carpet and padding will have to come out. Bye-bye money!! The stimulus check was already going to replace part of the flooring. Now I have to replace ALL of the flooring (except for maybe the bathrooms).
- Justin and Vikki tried to leave Gracie with me during said disasters. I politely informed them for the 20th time that it was TOO NASTY and DANGEROUS for an infant. Kailey got shipped to Leanna's for the weekend after I informed the first time I couldn't watch the girls this weekend. I don't even want to think about what Leanna did to her.
I hurt. I'm tired. I wish I was out there now ripping up that nasty carpet and helping Jerm sand the ceiling and wallpaper remnants.
Will be ready to paint this week/weekend! Painting will be delayed Sunday until after my Little One GRADUATES!! Flooring the weekend after that. Maybe we'll be moved in before our first mortgage payment is due on June 1st...
