Heyheyeheyehye!
Today I banded my first House Finch.
I thought it was a Purple finch. But I've never really seen both up close. SOOOOOO I did well in identifying that it was a finch. Also - I pulled a cardinal out of a trap today. They don't really scare me any more. I didn't even get nibbled on.
We also did mourning doves, a downy, some other stuff.
I got an Email today from a woman from the MNR, I didn't really get the entirety of what she was talking about, because there was little punctuation, so I was trying to insert pauses where I thought they went.
It seems that one of the field assistant jobs might pay more than the crew leader job due to some incentive program thing, and I could still be a crew leader maybe if I took it.... that's what I got the gist to be.
So I said sure, if I'll make more money and still lead the group - I'd apply for that position too.
There are three job listings and only six interview spots.... so that kind of worries me a little bit.
We'll see. We'll see. The good thing is the interview isn't for a while, so I should know by then wether or not I'm getting NSERC. If I do, then I will take the NSERC and play with squirrels all summer long. Although birds are really awesome. I'm wondering how much this pays, but I doubt it pays more than NSERC does. I guess it's possible. NSERC is around 5,500$ or something for the 4 months. Usually field jobs are $1000 a month. Well, I guess I will have to wait and see.
:-S
Update: Found out some more information - turns out I would be strong candidate for the field assistant one, but not so much for the crew leader one - but I could make up to 10K, which seems insane!!!!
WE'll see......
