Hudson Children's Book Festival
I can't believe it's been a full week since I set out to attend the fantastic Hudson Children's Book Festival in Hudson, NY! It was such a well-organized, well-attended festival--and talk about a selection of books! There were over 100 children's book authors there, panel discussions, readings, music, food... I'll definitely be there again next spring.
I was happy to find my table near Michael Northrop (GENTLEMEN, and more recently, TRAPPED), Kate Messner (too many awesome books to list!), Amanda Marrone (who had kids swarming around her table with her trio of hissing cockroaches), Aimee Ferris (WILL WORK FOR PROM DRESS and GIRL OVERBOARD), Wendy Maas (yeah, you know who she is), and Dina Friedman (ESCAPING INTO THE NIGHT).
The volunteers in their blue HCBF t-shirts were unbelievably helpful and welcoming, and The Spotty Dog bookstore provided all the authors with their individual titles--amazing! An ill-timed fire alarm due to a smoky kitchen made things a little crazy for 15 minutes or so, but c'est la vie :-)
