A/N - Today is a Canadian holiday: Remembrance Day (Nov 11th). It is a day to commemorate the sacrifices our armed forces and civilians took during war, especially the First World War.
These days, we used Remembrance Day to also remember the value of life.
It is brave of our men and women to protect our country but the war right now has not resolved anything. Hopefully Canada will pull back their troops and return them home to live another day.
I try not to take life for granted but sometimes I forget. Today, I realized how I took the story of Pepa and Silvia for granted. Hoping that it would last forever, depending on the writers to keep ME happy. But it was never about me, or the fans, it was for the world - to change their thinking.
I’ll always remember PepSi and how it changed my life.
PART 1 PART 2
The long hair brunette sat in front of the breakfast table trying not to nod off into sleep. She rested her head on her fist to keep herself upright. She thought after they put Sabenita to sleep, her and Silvia would continue the rest of their night but the minute they were back in their bedroom, the baby started to bawl. Pepa waited for Silvia to come back but the Sabenita wouldn’t stop crying. Silvia ended up staying with the tot while Pepa waited… for nothing.
Absolutely nothing! Pepa was still horny and wasn’t going to relieve the pain with her own hand. She wanted Silvia’s. She could wait until Rita’s daughter was out of their care, but the second the baby was gone, she was going to corner Silvia in the lab, or elevator, or locker room. Hell, it didn’t matter where they were. She was going to have her.
“Pepa!”
Pepa’s head slipped from her hand and smacked against the surface of the table. She bolted up from her chair and held her forehead. She grimaced at the pain as Silvia came rushing in with baby in tow.
“Yes, honey?” Pepa groaned as she tried to rub the pain away, only to make it worst. She didn’t want to sound annoyed but Silvia already knew she was.
Silvia was and looked exhausted. She had a total of two hours of sleep but didn’t care. This was the first time she took care of a baby overnight and she loved every minute. She loved holding the tiny life in her arms and just watching. She hoped one day Pepa would change her mind and want to have a child with her. Maybe two.
“Can you watch Sabenita while I shower?” Silvia handed Pepa the infant and ran to the bathroom without waiting for a response. Pepa extended the baby away from her as far as her arms would allow and eyed the baby.
“Sure thing,” Pepa mumbled. Sabenita stared back curiously as Pepa didn’t know what to do. She heard the shower turn on; it was going to be a long 15 minutes.
“Hello baby.” It was the first thing Pepa could think.
“How are you?” Pepa asked. She started to feel unintelligent, wondering why she was asking a baby questions when it couldn’t talk yet.
More silence filled the room until the baby let out a tiny burp. Pepa laughed and the baby gave a longer burp.
“Oh yeah, try this,” Pepa challenged and pronounced her loudest burp. The brunette smirked in victory until Sabenita roared into tears.
“Oh fuck...” Pepa moaned.

Silvia held the baby carrier close to her side as she made her way around the precinct. Rita and Pove were still at the hospital and the doctors wouldn’t discharge him until later in the afternoon. Meaning Silvia had to keep Sabenita until her parents were able to pick her up. But at this moment, Silvia was scheduled for a priority autopsy that her papa wanted completed, quote, yesterday.
She homed on Pepa who was at her desk, stamping closed files and reports. She reached her lover’s side, placing the carrier on the desk, and dropping the baby bag to the floor.
“Wow!” Pepa jerked away from her desk. Her eyes widen at the rocking baby carrier in front of her.
“I have to do this autopsy for Papa right away. I need you to watch the baby.” Silvia explained. She tried to turn back but Pepa reached and dragged her back, not wanting Silvia to leave her in a lurch like she did in the morning. Pepa wasn’t able to calm the crying baby in the morning that she begged for Silvia to hurry her shower. Silvia ended up cutting her shower short, not able to wash her hair properly.
“No, No, No, Silvia!” Pepa pleaded, “I tried to watch her this morning but I made her cry the second you left. I can’t watch her if I can’t get your help!” She pulled Silvia into a tight hug.
“Pepa, you can handle this for a few hours,” Silvia patted Pepa’s head, “I trust you. Just call my cell if you have any questions.”
Silvia kissed the top of Pepa’s head and pulled out of the embrace.
“But! But!” But Silvia was out of ear shot and up the staircase to her lab. The thing was, Pepa didn’t trust herself with a baby.
“I guess it’s just you and me again,” Pepa supposed. She looked around the precinct and back at the silences between the baby and her. Fifteen minutes passed and they still stared at each other.
Pepa began tapping her fingertips against her desk but the noise lurched Sabenita’s attention. She began to recognized the early signs of the baby starting to cry so instinctively she blew raspberries at the baby. Sabenita changed her tune and chattered in delight, making Pepa laugh in unison.
“Miranda!” Once again, Pepa jerked in her chair for the second time. Don Lorenzo stood in front of the police agent with his signature glare.
“You don’t get paid to horse around. Get back to work!” He demanded. He tossed more file folders on Pepa’s desk and stormed away.
Pepa waited for DL to turn the corner before blowing more raspberries back at the baby.
Maybe it wasn’t so bad after all.

Pepa pulled her hair in frustration.
Sabenita had been crying for 20 minutes straight that the precinct clear out because they were exhausted of the noise.
Pepa thought of everything to keep her quiet. She gave her milk bottle but the baby refused, she trying entertaining her with a doll she found in the carrier but it was make the crying louder. She even tried singing a lullaby but nothing was working!
“What do you want?!” Pepa demanded with closed fists. The baby gave no clue and Pepa gave up, hiding her head in her hands.
Curtis came waltzing over Pepa’s desk and saw his coworker’s defeated look against the baby carrier.
“Problems, mamasita?” Curtis joked. Pepa glared up from her hands and motioned towards the upset infant.
“Have you tried feeding it?” he asked. He figured whenever he was upset, food helped calm him down.
“Yes! And I tried dancing and singing, and rocking the carrier but it’s still not happy!” Pepa rocked the carrier again but with more force.
Curtis peered inside the carrier and took a big whiff. He reeled back waving the front of his nose in disgust.
“Take a whiff chica and I’d say stamp the case closed,” he suggested and step a feet backwards.
Pepa inhaled the carrier and let out a revolted eww. She whiffed again and reeled back with Curtis.
“What do I do?” Pepa whispered to the agent. They looked at each other and back.
“I don’t know. Change it,” he quickly replied and slowly backed away. “It’s smelly so I’m not going near it.”
“Oh fuck!” Pepa slugged the baby bag over her shoulders and pulled the baby out the carrier. She speedily walked away from her desk while punching buttons on her cell phone. She cursed again as she listened to four rings and the voicemail picking up.
“Silvia!” Pepa screamed into the phone as she rounded the hallway corners until she came upon an empty interrogation room.
“Pelirroja, I need you NOW!! There’s a problem with the baby! I’m at Interrogation Room 202. Come now!” Pepa dropped her cell in her back pocket and scanned the empty room. She needed a spacious table, so she grabbed the hanging keys to the secondary room and enter that room.
“Change the baby…Change the baby,” Pepa repeated and she searched inside the oversize bag. She laid a flowery blanket onto the hard surface, followed by the baby. The baby grunted and let out a loud fart.
“Whew!” Pepa waved the stench away from the baby’s bottom and frantically search the bag again for a hint to what to do next. She came across a bundle of white diapers and yanked one out, causing the rest to tumbling to the floor. She remembered diapers from a time when she watched Paco change Sara. That was so long ago that she couldn’t recall the next steps.
“Ok, baby, what next?” she asked with diaper in hand. The baby grunted again in response, clearly not cooperating.
The brunette studied the fabric device, turning it on all sides attempting to figure out how to work it. She was able to unfold the diaper and pull out the flaps. She fiddled with the flaps and decided to tear off the clear flaps to unfold it some more.
“Got it! I can do this.” Pepa reassured herself. She took a deep breath and held it as she undressed the baby. She fandangle with the diaper already on the Sabenita until she successfully dragged it off the legs of the baby. She dropped the used diaper with the mess on the ground.
Pepa moved her head to the side to let out her breath; she waited a few seconds and took another deep breath. As she got the new diaper wrapped around the baby’s bottom, she held the side flaps together with her hands and let go.
But the diaper folds flopped to the sides, not sticking like the one she had removed. She tried to stick them together again but they still wouldn’t stay.
“Fuck!” Pepa picked up the clear flaps she ripped off earlier and realized her mistake. But she wasn’t going to be beaten so she began taping the side flaps with the tape she removed. She mirrored the same with the other side and hoped it would do. It was a little bit loose around the waist but Pepa had finished the task. Even though the interrogation room was a mess, she rewarded herself with two pumps in the air with her fist.
“Pepa?”
Pepa heard the voice of her lover and quickly left the room to meet her.
“I did it rojo! I changed the baby?” Pepa exclaimed. She pulled Silvia to her and kissed her soundly. Silvia wrapped her arms around the brunette and welcomed the embrace.
“I’m proud of you Pepa!” Silvia beamed and received another kiss. “You will make a good parent.”
Pepa busted out laughing in the absurdity, “I don’t think so!”
Pepa never thought about being a mother in her life but she felt a tiny change in opinion. She had done tolerable with the baby and it wasn’t so bad, minus the constant crying. But there were so many responsibilities she wasn’t ready for.
“Let’s go get the baby. We shouldn’t leave her alone.” Silvia went to the door and turned the door knob. But it wouldn’t turn. Silvia jiggled the handle but the door didn’t budge.
“Hand me the keys, Pepa,” Silvia held hand. Pepa patted her jean pockets and her eyes widen.
“Mother - !” Pepa cried out. She plastered herself against the two way mirror and saw the keys on the table beside the baby. Silvia did the same and cried in dismay.
“You forgot to unlock the door and left the keys inside?” Silvia shook the knob again with greater force. Pepa now started to panic.
“Unbelievable!” Silvia began pushing against door hoping the force would budge the door open. But the doors in the interrogation room were reinforced so the interviewee wouldn’t be able to escape.
Pepa pulled out a gun from her side holster and aimed at the mirror. “Let me break the glass.
“NO!” The redhead screamed and quickly lowered Pepa’s gun.
“You’ll hurt the baby, either with the bullet or shattered glass. Not to mention the bang! You’ll scare the baby! Why don’t you think?!” Silvia explained. She shot Pepa an angry glared and reached for her cell. She called Montoya to look for an extra key or call the Locksmith. As she closed her phone, the two girls stood in silence.
“I didn’t do it on purpose, Silvia!” Pepa defended. She kept an eye on the baby to make sure she didn’t fall off the table. If anything happen to Sabenita, Rita was going to killed her.
Silvia sighed out loud and chose to believe her. She did trust Pepa with the baby but never thought they would in this predicament. Dios!
“Vale, vale! But we need to get to the baby now before she hurts herself. We can’t wait for Montoya.”
So Pepa went to her next plan. She unclipped the magazine from her non-holstered gun, held the gun by the chamber and moved to the door. She raised the gun and hammered down on the knob. With two hits, the knob collapsed to the floor and the door swung ajar.
“Don’t tell the Don Lorenzo I used my gun as a hammer.” Pepa pleaded. If Don Lorenzo found out, she would be suspended for weeks!
Silvia rolled her eyes but didn’t say a word as she immediately went to the lonely infant.
