Been reading about the multiple health benefits, these facts coupled with the fact that my favorite foods tend to be fruits, veggies, grains and beans...I think I might attempt being a (mostly) vegetarian for a while, see how I like it. I know when I eat mostly vegetarian foods/meals I feel a LOT better, not so sluggish and tired all the time.
I've been researching, to start with, a bunch of vegetarian smoothie recipes that include a TON of nutrients...ingredients include organic baby spinach, almond or soy milk, bananas, honey, wheat grass, superfood drink powders, flax seed...they all sound really delicious, to be honest!
So...my grocery list for today (assuming it's not going to break the bank)...
*organic baby spinach
*almond milk
*flax seed (whole or ground)
*bananas
*pineapple chunks (for tropical smoothies!)
*honey
*agave nectar (way better than refined sugar)
*wheatgrass powder
*superfood drink powder (chocolate, if they have it, for those veggie/PB/choc dessert-smoothies)
I'm thinking my day will start off better with a green smoothie...I've been checking out all the recipes on greenmonstermovement.com and they all look great, and the girl's blog has been rather inspiring. She's about the same height I am, started off at the same weight I am, and less than a year later, has dropped 20 pounds and runs marathons. Inspiring...especially since I want to look FABULOUS in a wedding dress AND bikini here in less than 5 months!
I also plan on running regularly, and I bought a workout DVD - Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. I read a TON of reviews on it and it seems like the good results are pretty universal, very few people didn't like the DVD, and I have a personal acquaintance who dropped a jeans size using the DVD irregularly for 60 days.
Anyway...onward and upward...never too late to start being super healthy, right???
