*insomnia-driven rant ahoy!*
I find the whole 50books_poc project deeply problematic & inherently illogical, to say the least. Bundling together works belonging to different cultures & different genres based on their authors' not-belonging to the Western culture is as good a strategy of othering as, well, any other. Choosing reading material based on the authors' race is not unproblematic, be the decisions pro or contra. Etc., etc. I'm all for raising the visibility of otherwise-overlooked authors' works, but wouldn't incorporating them into "50 great YA/SciFi/romances" along with white authors be more logical, instead of fitting them into one seemingly-homogenous ghetto-like category?
