acnl: day 35 - harvest festival (w/ pics)
today is day 35 and it's harvest festival time (aka USA thanksgiving) at Queequeg and all points of acnl kingdom. it's an event where your character gathers ingredients for franklin the chef turkey (the turkey is the chef in acnl and not the main course, of course) to make a feast for the resident villagers. luckily, animal_xing_3ds put out a guide for it and other resources have more detailed info so you're not walking blind into the event. i've stored many of the ingredients already (that's why i have no more storage space :( ) and i'm fishing and gathering the rest as we speak. you trade items w/ villagers in chef outfits for items you can't fish and forage. i'm in the middle of it right now. got one dish done (fish salad) and i'm waiting for other villagers to wake and stores to open to get going on the rest. Queeequegers are a "wake after 9 or 10 am" lot and it's almost, but not quite 9 am here. pics and more stuff on this post by the end of the day.

harvest festival started out with franklin the turkey chef asking for your help to gather ingredients for various dishes he will make for the festival. the menu for the Queequeg harvest feast was: a fish salad app, shellfish cream soup, barred knifejaw saute and for dessert, apple pie. i fished for the fish ingredients and only needed some of the ingredients i stored away in early november per guide suggestions. i went mostly to molly and hans for most of the other ingredients. you trade various types of fish for things like butter, flour, milk, etc. i managed to gather all of franklin's requests of ingredients in short order and held back with the dessert ingredients until after 12:00 pm. it was a good decision overall because molly, hans and believe it or not, bud, gave me the fruits i was missing for the town in trade for river and ocean fish which were very, very easily obtained. i have now planted oranges, peaches and pears. crossing fingers that they'll take root.

i didn't realize until a few days ago that tutu was a big ol' polar bear. you'd think, "big white bear" = polar bear, obviously, but she's such a goof that her personality distracted me. and yes, i'll do a bear a solid, sister. er, that is, get you the ingredient you need for a trade of an ingredient i need.

yesterday, it actually snowed in Queequeg. it didn't stick, but it was chilly for awhile, according to hans:

ooooookay. let's run away from that scenario and focus on tutu being a big goofball. tutu will randomly "ping" and come up to me and play, "let me guess what you're thinking because i have psychic powers." when you choose "i'm thinking about YOU, tutu!", you get this exchange:

redd also set up his art gallery in the town plaza yesterday so i had a chance to get another art piece for the museum.
fake. she's holding a cat. she's supposed to be holding a white ermine.
fake. mount fuji is waaaay too big.
real. if it's fake, there's supposed to be a hole in the leaf.
real. if it was fake, the blonde girl would be twice the height of the lady on the left.
i chose to get the "solemn painting", aka, Las Meninas by Diego Velasquez.
eta 2: i temporarily lost my "perfect town" status the other day or so because i was dumping items in the town plaza 'cos i was running out of room. they were mostly duplicates and/or items i didn't really want. when i checked on isabelle and the "town committee" said the town was a "dump" and "trash" was everywhere, i got ticked off because i was trying to get the golden watering can and putting items in the town plaza broke the streak. i sold the items off and quickly got "perfect town" back a minute later. unfortunately, i accidentally sold off my mush lamp so now i'm missing two mush items (mush lamp and mush dresser) instead of one to complete the set. argh. i don't even care about "perfect town" anymore 'cos i probably need to wait until NEXT november to complete the mush set. geez. what a pain...
