I've waited a while to post about this, but there was some assembly required and I only managed to get that completely finished yesterday. So here 'tis:

OMG. I am so jealous. What's it like to warp? And weave with? *grabby hands*

I'm still in the process of warping it up for the first time. It did come with a set of instructions for 'easy' warping (you wind the warp directly onto the loom basically) but I couldn't make them work for me, so I've been doing it the same way as for the other loom (of course, once I'd started that I worked out what I'd missed with the easy method, so I'll be trying that next time). I am a bit nervous about weaving with it, on account of the size. It might take some time to figure out how to do it comfortably.

Seeing the pic you posted on G+, it looks amazing.

Yes, the actual weaving went pretty smoothly. Maybe you could come round and have a go sometime?

That would be great! When it's a bit less hot even better. :D

Yeah, whenever suits. I have nearly finished the test piece I started this week. I will have to put a bit of thought into what to do next. Or, insert my hand randomly into the yarn stash and see what comes out :-)

Cool! what are you using for the weft? And I'll be very interested to see what you do next. :D

I'm using a worsted merino yarn for both warp and weft. I only have the one reed at the moment, so whatever I do next will have to be around the same weight.

So the finished piece was quite thick?

It's not super chunky. Certainly lighter than I would get crocheting the same weight yarn.

Huh. I don't know why, but I'm surprised.

I'm thinking of doing something with this yarn for my next project. It looks like water when it's made up into something and it feels amazing.

Hmmm, maybe I should get a Ravelry account. That's the second time today I've run into 'you must sign in to Ravelry to view this page'. The universe is clearly trying to send me a message...

I'm so anal about my Ravelry account. I update it almost religiously since Lucy introduced the site to me!

Heh. I just went and signed up. I can see I could sink many hours into this. I have my yarn stash catalogued on my phone, but I might have to transfer it to Ravelry. It looks like it might be easier to keep track of...

What's your username there, I'll friend you. :) It's very easy to lose a few hours there and they have SO many free patterns.

And there's some good stuff in the groups too, there's a lot of Ashford loom groups: http://www.ravelry.com/groups/search#sort=best&query=ashford
