There's a Q&A interview with Neil Gaiman at
http://www.guardian.co.uk/weekend/story/0,,1742887,00.html - you can see what HIS answers were over there, but I'l going to answer them my way right here, and let's see how far that'll go - pick it up and run with it!
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Watching snow falling just as the day darkens into twilight. I should be holding a cup of hot chocolate and in the warm and cozy room at my back the only light is that from the fire in the hearth.
What is your greatest fear?
Being alone.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Insecurity.
What makes you depressed?
All too often, people, and the things that they are capable of doing to other people.
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
What? I blush at EVERYTHING. Even if I KNEW that someone else had broken the window, I will blush when the question "Who broke the window?" is asked. Can blushing at the drop of a hat be called embarrasing?
What is your greatest extravagance?
Books.
What is your most treasured possession?
Books.
What is your favourite smell?
Lilac, closely followed by hyacinth and lily of the valley.
What is your favourite book?
Oh, please, you can't ask me that one. I would implode. I can answer what my CURRENT most favourite book is, but that isn't the same thing at all and wouldn't really be fair. So I'll take the Fifth.
What is your fancy dress costume of choice?
Queen Guinevere.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Books. (is there an echo in here?)
What is your greatest regret?
Not being there when people I loved needed me. Yes, that was dictated by circumstances I had no control over. I still regret it.
What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
Time, ah, time, ah, time! If only my years would stop slipping away so fast...
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Perhaps this is a tad selfish, but... living my dream. I wanted to be a writer. I AM one. I am constantly blown away by that single aspect of my life, and grateful beyond words to be able to claim it for my truth.
What keeps you awake at night?
Worrying about things over which I tend not have the smallest measure of control. My loving husband tells me I find more things to worry about in the space of a single day than most normal people do in ten years. Can't help it. True pessimists are born, not made.
