When I was a very little girl, my Dad brought back from America (where he had been for postgrad work) a bunch of records by the singing stars of the time. WIthout going too much into detail, let me just say that I had a serious crush (hey, I wes SEVEN) on the young Pat Boone whose picture was on the front of his album, and his "Anastasia" was a song that I loved to listen to.
But another of the singers who came home from America with my father was Perry Como - and there was one song of his that I deeply, deeply, DEEPLY adored.
This one.

The record that we once owned is long since history, even if we had something that we could play it ON without too much trouble - and I've never found a CD or a compilation of Como's songs which featured it - and just now, looking for something else entirely on You Tube, I thought to plug this in and up it came.
And I am eight years old again, lost in the *story* of this song, my heart shivering at the tale of lost love and the sad ghost which blows around the southwestern deserts like a tumbleweed.
Nothing to see here, nothing important. Go right on with what you were doing, I didn't mean to interrupt. I just needed to let... that little girl out, and let her tell you about the things that once moved her.
