Life SUCKS sometimes

Less than two weeks ago I was at a panel with David Honigsberg (dochyel) at Lunacon. It was a Friday panel, the other panelists were apparently snowed in somewhere else, and it turned out that the panel was David and I, a deux, by ourselves, discussing religion in SF&F. Seems surreal, doesn't it? Just a bit over a week ago he seemed healthy and fine.

Words are never enough for occasions like these, but they're all we have to offer. Please accept my condolences.

I think it may have had something to do with the fact that you were still in train limbo somewhere between Philly and New York at the time...

But I can't stop thinking about how there was no indication of mortality anywhere around him, how frighteningly easy it seems to be to find yourself sitting on a convention panel one week and gone the next. When someone who has had a full span of years passes on, you might mourn, but you *understand*, in the end - it comes to everybody, after all. But this - this - this you just feel lost and outraged about. It should not be allowed, that a man vanish thus in his prime, with so much to look forward to.
