watching actors never reach / the ending of their Oscar speech!

I was just about to go to bed -- actually I have been "just about to go to bed" for about two hours, but now I am really going to do it -- but first I had to post this link I got from nineweaving:

Tracking surveys indicated that audiences were not that interested in seeing the film and it was likely headed for a very soft opening of less than $5 million.

I trust that's because the public are convinced Stratfordians, rather than because (whisper it not in Gath) they aren't interested in Renaissance authorship debates in general...

I suspect that interest in Renaissance authorship debates is only a little ahead of interest in the investiture controversy and a whole couple of laps behind interest in who wrote the Gospel of John.

Most of the potential audience is probably generated from a confluence of people who like costume dramas like The Tudors and those who perk up at the idea of seeing a film about incestuous dukes in Tierra del Fuego. The attempt to make it sound like a serious assault on a scholarly position is probably driving these people off.

Now I want some schadenfreude pie. Sounds good and darkly enjoyable. I don't need anymore sweets around the house, considering there's a box of taffy we've been working our way through this week.

Not always true. I bet it will come to the Frontenac. I hope so, anyway. My Shakespeare class has been talking about a fieldtrip all semester.

You should take them to see Coriolanus instead! It's probably way better than this pile of poo!

Hmmm. True. And since it's a "Shakespeare and Rome" class, we are reading Coriolanus... *plots*
