So I have not posted in for-fucking-ever, and I want to kind of get back into that, but I have nothing to talk about except for being depressed/whiny/clingy/whatever, not even my dissertation, because it is finished.

I actually really love R&J, but I dunno if it'd be my first choice to teach to high school students. (I think I'd pick Macbeth -- it's short, and newcomers to Shakespeare often seem to respond well to it.)

My favorite tragedy in high school was King Lear, which was never, ever taught. I don't know why. Surely plenty of teens can relate to god-awful parents?

My mates who did English for A-level studied King Lear. In hindsight, I REALLY REALLY should've done English for A-level. Ah well. XD

The twelfth-grade English teachers at my school had the choice of either teaching Lear or Hamlet. My teacher picked the latter because he figured we'd be able to relate to the teen angst. Sigh.
