putting the opera in "space opera"

So California composer Steven W. Clark has written an opera based on "Amok Time." In his use of the original script as libretto, and in nothing else, it is slightly reminiscent of Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream. ;)



It is AWESOME(ly hilarious). Although I don't think I would have written Spock as a tenor. Or made the episode dialogue audible over the recitatives. Also, the guy playing Bones COMPLETELY STEALS THE SHOW.

"Amok Time" has also been done, as many of you know, as Star Trek in the Park. I feel that next up it should get a Renaissance staging at the Globe.

ETA: Dude, I could totally play T'Pau in this opera. ;)
