[drabbles] for gileonnen

This is in fact not, as the word count reveals, a drabble at all. Also, I think it is the purplest piece of prose I have ever written.

I actually did research on that and then I went "Don't be stupid, self, Iago rattles off a long list of pre-modern sleep-inducing plants, PAY SOME DAMN ATTENTION TO YOUR OWN FIELD." I did regret losing the chance to post a fic that warned for "references to group sex and anachronistic heraldry."

Henry was IRL too, wasn't he, not just in Shakespeare? Or am I wrong about that...

I don't know, but it seems a reasonable assumption, all things considered!

Oh, poor insomniac Richard. He would totally have insomnia at that point, wouldn't he? Plus it's not like they had nice comfortable beds. *remembers the Creton/straw-in-hair fic*

Conwy Castle was, at the time Richard and his remaining supporters holed up there, pretty much unfurnished, as far as I can recall, so it was a particularly crappy lodging. But, yeah. Actually in my fic universe he develops insomnia after the purge of the appellants and is afraid to sleep because then he'll see the ghost of Arundel telling him "YOU'RE GOING DOWN, BITCH" (that is mentioned in one of the chronicles, not in those words).

all the people who know me as a SRS ACADEMIC are totally getting a look at what really goes on in my brain. Horrors!

the ghost of Arundel telling him "YOU'RE GOING DOWN, BITCH"

OH YES.

Arundel is scary. No, the appellants are scary. HISTORY is scary.

...But especially when it contains a ghost-of-Arundel.

No, it's great. They will all be converted to Ricardian Funtimes.

Oh man, Arundel was the biggest jerk in the English aristocracy, and THAT'S NOT EASY. And according to -- one of the chroniclers, probably Walsingham or Usk, but I can never keep them straight -- there were rumors that his head would reattach to his body ten days after he was executed, and Richard was so unnerved that he had people DIG HIM UP. JUST TO MAKE SURE. And then he had the gravestone removed.

I am now seriously considering retitling my lj "Ricardian Funtimes.

Well, I'd dare you to do it, but that would just be MEAN.
