This post is made on behalf of commodorified, whom I admire very much. She is involved with the War Resisters Support Campaign (http://www.resisters.ca/), a Canadian group which is committed to the aid of American war resisters seeking sanctuary in Canada on account of their opposition to the war in Iraq, and to petitioning the Canadian government to allow these people to claim refugee status, and has requested that those of similar mind spread the word.
I am not normally one to talk about serious issues seriously on livejournal when they don't involve me being self-absorbed, and I acknowledge that this is, in fact, a very serious matter, but I believe it is a good cause and so, consider the word spread; I know I have quite a few Canadian readers who are in a better position to help and may well be interested in doing so.
I realize that this journal reaches a fairly politically diverse audience, and a lot of people reading this will probably disagree strongly with it (some of whom I like and respect a good deal), and that is their prerogative. I am disabling comments because I am neither interested in nor equipped for having that argument here.
