I will be a very, very happy person once I've finally finished Elyot, because he has begun to bore me silly. Every chapter goes along much the same lines, viz.:
"Now I'm going to tell you about the virtue of [foo]. [Foo] is a very great quality in a prince, because it makes him [do stuff]. This is what I mean by [foo], and this is where it's derived from in Latin. Here are numerous classical examples of princes who showed [foo]. Here are even more classical examples of princes who were [anti-foo]. In conclusion, hooray for [foo]."
Of course, I still have to read Ascham's Scholemaster, which is another education-of-nobility tract. But fortunately it's not as long.
Okay, must go back to studying now...
