Sep 25, 2010 00:12

[Kanji broadcasts this video nearly at midnight, and he's looking a little worn out, but still smiling.  He seems to be in a pokemon center.]

Hey guys!  I know its freakin' midnight, but I finally made it to Violet City!  I know most of ya probably aren't up...  But come see me in the mornin'?  [He's talking to you, Naoto.]

[He raises the arm with ( Read more... )

I never thought spiders could be shy.

[That's because you're used to giant spiders with naked human torsos, Cecil.]

Hello, Katie. It's nice to meet you.

Hey, you're that shadow guy again! . . . Hi. Should probably stop callin' you that, huh?

[Katie pokes her head up, then immediately hides it again. Kanji puts a hand on her back.]

I didn't expect it either, really. She's cute.

The name is Cecil. Cecil Harvey.

[Rosie the Cleffa shows up on the Pokégear. Hey, why is that Spinarak hiding her face?

Faaaa?

Now now, Rosie, don't tease her.

Hey, Cecil. Have I told you my name? I'm Kanji.

[Kanji gently nudges his Spinarak.]

Come on, Katie, say hi, she won't hurt you...

Please to formally meet you.

[Of course she won't! She's a sweet girl, see how she's waving at you?]

's kinda funny. Been talking to you... practically since I got here, and I didn't know your name.

[Katie finally glances up from her trainer's shirt, and gives the slightest little wave in return.]

That sort of thing happens sometimes. Back home I'd been traveling with the same people for weeks, and I still don't know some of their names. At least this time we got to ask.

[A wave! Cleffa beams and starts to open her mouth...

...but her face is suddenly replaced by a staring Shuppet. That is staring. Creepily.]

...Avenger stop this at once. You'll scare her.

Woah, that's crazy... I come from a tiny little town, everyone knows everyone...

[Katie makes an alarmed little noise and resumes hiding in Kanji's shirt- she too remembers the fog and the ghosts.]

You got one of those ghosts too?!

In our defense, the moon was falling and we came from very different kingdoms. We didn't have time for introductions. But a tiny town where everyone knows eachother... it sounds rather friendly.

[Don't worry, Katie! Rosie will bravely come to your rescue by pushing Avenger away! And then he'll push her back and Cecil will have to recall him anyway, but still.]

I did. It was responsible for my... behavior back then, but I also owe him a bit.

The... moon was falling? Kingdoms? Man, your life sounds even crazier than mine...

[Katie watches this little exchange, and actually giggles the tiniest bit, the best that a Spinarak can.]

My... friend caught one, but she's already got a ghost type, so she's passing it along to me. [He's kinda excited. Mostly because, hot damn, a gift from Naoto.]

Falling moons are also crazy by our standards, I assure you.

[The moment Avenger is gone, Rosie turns back toward Kate and starts chattering. Probably about stupid ghosts that cheat at staring contests.]

Being able to trust your friends with something as a important as a companion is good. But is having two ghost types a bad thing? [Typing, he still doesn't quite get.]

Wait, so... Are you from one of those places where you don't know about TVs and stuff?

[The little Spinarak doesn't hide this time, merely watches and nods encouragingly in the right places.]

We've been through a lot together. And they're awesome friends. [Kanji shrugs at the question.] I dunno, but apparently the two of them fight a lot.

Well, I do now thanks to the Pokécenter, but we certainly didn't have them back home. [However, they did have one homicidal giant robot controlled by a computer. Just the one.

Rosie finally runs out of Shuppet-related insults and starts asking questions about Katie's teammates. Meeting new Pokémon is always fun.]

Some events just can't help leading to friendships, can't they?

I guess tensions in her team could cause problems in the long term.

Man... That's a little crazy. Even just 'cause it doesn't surprise me anymore.

[Katie talks slowly and carefully as she explains the scary pidgey and excitable pichu who share her trainer.]

Sure seems that way... But I couldn'ta asked for better friends.

And that'd suck...
