Bachelorette and Bridal Shower

Jan 10, 2009 23:51

Last night was my Bachelorette party. It was exactly what I wanted. Friends hanging out. We watched Bride Wars which was very fun at Cine Bistro. Also very cool. Following that, we went to Bouganvillas, had a couple of beers, and chatted about life and love, penises and hairy butts, and friends. It was perfect.

This morning I got my hair done, and then went to my friend's house, where she had the yard set up lovely, in white table cloths and pretty orchids on pink tulle. Little pink favors with brown bows adorned the tables, and the Eiffel tower sat neatly on one table where the gifts would later sit. The people arrived, and they talked, and laughed, and shared. Everyone enjoyed their crepes, and my students served everyone with great grace.

And then we opened gifts, and I laughed even more. People said their goodbyes and we packed our cars and left.

But the best part, the thing that has me with tears in my eyes, is the fact that I feel so "showered" with love. And while that's the idea behind the shower, I can't imagine others feeling as I did today. As I've felt all weekend. And ultimately, as I've felt all my life. This was just an outward display of the love I've always had in my life. And I'm more grateful and blessed than words can begin to describe.
