HOLGA SPREE #2, CLOSED & COMPLETED!
Holga Spree #1
CLOSED!
[+1/-0], spreehouse feedback! THE 5 FUNDAMENTALS OF HOLGA
Free yourself from rules
Holga neither knows nor respects any rules. Its sheer simplicity is your key to power. Think of the Holga not as a camera, but as paintbrush, liberally splashing your medium-format canvas with exactly the elements that you choose. Envision your desires and manipulate your Holga to bring them into reality.
Embrace random results
Holga is a loose cannon; an unpredictable partner who sometimes makes its own decisions despite your most strident attempts at control. Many times, your best creations will be the result of your most foolish mistakes or oversights. Don't fight it! Roll with the punches and stay flexible.
Disarm your subjects
Holga is not one to be taken seriously. It looks oversized, kinda clumsy, a little toy-like, and definitely not intimidating. Your subjects will relax, have fun, and open up for your lens. Go with this. Natural is best - let yourself flow right along with Holga's innate power to strip away pretence and posturing.
Engage individuality
Each Holga is unique and different from the rest. Some produce brighter images, some more colorful images. Some leak light through the back, some through the side, and some don't leak at all. Each Holga is an individual, and will leave its special signature on every photograph that it takes. Appreciate these inherent quirks and seek to employ several Holgas for a range of results.
Get Your Hands Dirty
The simplistic mechanics of Holga invite you to play with them. Dive inside its inner workings and discover what makes the Holga tick. Experiment with different modifications and treatments. Tape up the sides, slap a filter on the lens, pinhole the lens cap. When your camera wears out - cut the springs, streak the lens, or pull out the guts. Experiment and innovate. Get started with the modifications in our instruction book.

Questions posted - PLEASE READ ALL QUESTIONS AND DATA IN THE POST BEFORE ASKING!
i'm a totally beginner in photography, so try to google abit first before asking, thanks!
film does it use? where can we buy the film? how many pictures can we take using 1 roll?
A: Holga uses 120mm film which able to take 12/16 photos (depending what mask you are using)
The 120mm films can be bought from Ruby Photos, Cathay Photos, TripleD @ Burlington Square.
The camera can use 35mm films, which can take a total of 24 - 36 photos, if you are using the 35mm adapter, which can be bought from Perlyinc.com (a local seller) at only $20.
What is a hot shoe adpater and does GCFN has colored flash?
And Yes, GCFN has coloured flash. The 'C' in the model means Colored Flash.
F stands for Flash (without any color) G stands for glass lens.
What kind of film does the holga uses? Can it use the normal 35mm films which is available in
supermarkets and photo labs?
A: The holga uses a 120mm medium format film. Yes, it can use a normal 35mm film with an adapter,
which cost only $20 in retail.
--- credits to khloee
How much will it cost to develop the pics?
120 film - 16 shots, roughly $14 35mm film - 36 shots, roughly $14
so is the 120 mm film easily avail? or only avail at the places you stated?also for the holga with in built colour lens, does it mean we can switch between diff colours? i.e. not in built with ONE colour only right?
nope you cant get it from a regular kodak shop. the three places provided are the only places that sells the 120 film as far as i know (and i highly doubt there's other unexplored places by all the singaporean holga users). ruby's is in city hall so its really convinient. then again, you can always order films from lomography.com
as for the colour lens, its not that. its a colour flash. if you want tinted lenses you'll have to get the filters. but the GCFN is good enough for a start.
the adaptor, as the name suggests, changes the film compartment so that it can use the 35mm film instead of the 120mm film.hope it helps.
is there warranty?
the supplier would exchange if there is any faults whatsoever
135BC with flash?
nope no flash
are the colors accurate to
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/angel_xts/86cf_1_b.jpg
or those above?
really cant have any meetups? coz afraid they might break when deal by postage.. 2-3 weeks is the max or min waiting time?
yes blue available, and yes the colours are accurate to the pics provided. no meetups sorry, will wrap them up well.
yes minimum waiting time
erm hey how come the retail price of semi-silver is cheaper than completely black holga 120gcfn? then you should probbly be selling cheaper than 87.9...?
its alot more limited in stock, and rare to find thats why is priced higher. and all the prices are from different shops too.. so this is just a gauge.
as in i can just get it from kodak shops?i dont quite understand the adaptor thing! how does it work? wait so normal cams use 35 mm film right? oh and does this cam come with a box w instructions and all?
i wont know if you can get it at the specific shops from, i'm totally new at these too. so it wld be good if you can research on your own too.. the shops that i have listed above are the places that i'm very sure has them too.
And the adapter thing has already been answered, all holgas used 120mm film but if you want to use the normal 35mm film you need to buy an additional adapter to fix onto it then you can use the 35mm film. And about the instructions, PLEASE READ what is alr stated in the post about what it comes with.
hey, will you be doing a second spree? i'd like to get the holga 135bc, but i dont have sufficient money with me right now! i have to wait til like next weeeeeek
sorry i'm not able to predict the future to know if i'll do it again tho, sorry!
She means that at the top of the page, you wrote "Holga 120 CGFN Camera - SGD$78.90, retails for $159.90" in huge red font, but further down the page you subsequently stated different retail prices: Price Black - $78.90, retails in stores for $94.90Semi-Silver - $87.90, retails in stores for $93.90 etc. Also, if the semi-silver one retails for a dollar less than the black one, why would the supplier sell it for 9 dollars more?
you see the rates of Black - $78.90, retails in stores for $94.90 Semi-Silver - $87.90, retails in stores for $93.90
thats the rate that is being sold at inQbox. But i dont think they have the silver one tho. but i've friends who have purchased them for alot more at $160. and regarding the semi-silver version. its alot more limited in stock, and rare to find thats why is priced higher. and all the prices are from different shops too.. so this is just a gauge. Hope this clear its up (:
