Looking back

Another life...

Somewhen else, where the people I met weren't the people I have. Where I, me, lived another life. Where I never lost my naivete, my innocence preserved in the bliss of ignorance. Is knowing better than not knowing, if you never know that you don't know? Knowing life, knowing people, knowing and understanding ( Read more... )

A thought provoking post.

In another life I went to Art college and produced vast multimedia installations and composed music. I now have a recording deal with Warp records and have produced a number of cutting edge music videos.

In yet another I went straight into working for PriceWaterhouseCoopers after graduating with a 2:1. My Mercedes was broken into last week and my collection of Michael Nyman cds was nicked from the boot CD changer.

In a third I am sitting up marking schoolbooks for my year 11 class.

I have no idea who I am with in any of those scenarios.

Shit, I have no idea who I am in this world, let alone any of the other possible ones...

So many of the things that put me where I am now were bizarre coincidences, split-second decisions and elementary mistakes that there must be a diverse infinity of other mes in other worlds. Somewhen I didn't quit art and I got ny dream to be a graphic designer and maybe I'm content and happy, but in many others I'm much worse off than I am right now.

In case you get the wrong impression, I didn;t go into your philosophy journal to pick a fight - I'm just really interested in all the cool shit you post about in there!

Keep up the good work...

In my life, I am stuggling with every breath in my body never to become that life. Pretending I am not here keeps me sane.

In my real life in a world that isn't here, I sing, I write words and people buy them. I make Henry Moore like shapes that only mean something to me and people keep them and diplay them in their little boxes and pretend they appreciate them which amuses me.

I really, really like this.

But I should mention that I don't have a parallel.

Thank you.

I suppose it's more a divergance than a parallel, but I prefer the word parallel, and I like that I remember the spelling by the fact that the two l's are parallel themselves. It's kind of visually onomatopoeic.
