Today is a sad day in history. There are only certain people who hold in their hands the power to influence millions. Of those people, there are only select few that chose to use what they have as a gift and change the world for the better. Those rare few come far between and when they leave, some form of darkness falls. This is one of those times of darkness.
You were walking the earth for only fifty short years. In that time frame, you grew up under the scrutiny of the masses and the media. Still you managed to prevail and soar. 13 Number One singles. Best selling album of all time (yes I know the Eagles:Greatest hits rivals it but... it took their entire career to gather enough material to put out enough sales of one CD to rival what was done in one phemonenal year) You managed to create a video legacy and a book of music that is near unrivalable. You worked hard.
What saddens me most is that the legal circus and the media ate away ate the core of who you are and what you did. People looked at that, and forgot to SHUT UP and listen to the music. Maybe now, we'll listen again.
There is a hole in the heart of music today, a hole in the hearts of MILLIONS of fans worldwide. Maybe now you can find your peace.
