This Damn Economy!!!!!
So, I am so frustrated right now I can't even begin to explain. What in the hell is going on with the economy today anyways? Not only did we have outrageous gas prices at one point - thank God they are finally going down - but companies are going down just as quick as gas prices seem to be. I have been watching CNN so much lately since the pre-election days. But, now I hear that DHL is ending all domestic shipping services? Over 9,000 jobs are going to be lost. They are only going to be doing international shipping to and from the US? And what happens to those people that currently work for DHL? Should they apply for other jobs that are non-existent? The more that jobs are being outsourced means that jobs here in the US are going to be pretty much non-existent. So answer me this, what is the middle class to do? There are people that can't afford to keep their homes for God's sake. Being from a mining area of Minnesota - even the mines are doing layoffs. Where does it stop??? I am glad that I work in the healthcare field because granted, I am not GUARANTEED to always have a job, but it will be more difficult for me to be without a job than someone who delivers packages to people.
And, now this "bailout" for the company AIG - it really ticks me off. On CNN - Larry King had an interview with the CEO of AIG. He says that they will repay the taxpayers for bailing them out. First question is this, why should taxpayers bail them out? They are the ones that had "trainings" at a 4-star hotel with spa treatments. Trainings I have for my job, they take place in a classroom setting at the place where I work - and trust me, it is far from a 4-star hotel. And second question, how are they going to re-pay the taxpayers anyways? Some discount on AIG? When AIG doesn't apply to EVERY single taxpayer? As a taxpayer who works 2 jobs just to make ends meet, I don't feel it's right to bailout these big CEO's of companies. They are the ones that got the company into trouble - they should be the ones to get them out. Cut their salaries for cryin' out loud. Seriously.
Note to Barack Obama - when you take office in January - please help out the middle class. OMG - President Bush has gotten us into a HUGE mess. Everyone needs help, but mostly the middle class. People are losing jobs, homes, and vehicles. Not to mention family members in this friggin' war in Iraq. Mr. Obama - you need to do some major "damage control".
