OOC: I had way too much fun coming up with backstory for his childhood. Seriously.
Part 1: The Basics
1. What is your full name?
Liam Patrick O'Hearley
2. Where and when were you born?
November 8th, 1727, in Galway, Ireland
3. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
Eibhlin (Eileen) and Seamus O'Hearly. My father was a merchant, and a particularly hard man to please, with exacting standards and a clear idea of what his son should be. My mother stayed home, taking care of the family. She was a sweet woman, I remember her being kind, but she was overshadowed by my father.
4. Do you have any siblings?
I had one younger sister, Caitlin (Cathleen).
5. Where do you live now, and with whom?
At the moment, in my hotel The Hyperion, in Los Angeles. But I also travel a great deal.
6. What is your occupation?
Officially, Private Investigator.
7. Write a full physical description of yourself (you might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks).
6'1", 197 lbs, Irish (caucasion), brown hair, brown eyes, conservative dress, and one tattoo: a medieval stylized Gryphon surrounding the letter 'A', on my right shoulder.
8. To which social class do you belong?
Middle class, I suppose. I'm not really sure.
9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
I'm allergic to sunlight, holy water, and crosses. Contact allergies. I'm a vampire, I suppose you could call that a 'disease', after a fashion.
10. Are you right- or left-handed?
Right-handed.
11. What does your voice sound like?
Manly. Manly? I'd like to think it's commanding... maybe I'm wrong.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
The Powers That Be. Vampire. Soul. Champion. Forces of Darkness. Apocalypse.
13. What do you have in your pockets?
Pen. Business cards. Wallet.
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
Did I mention the contact allergies and vampirism? Um... I drink blood. I'd consider that a defining characteristic. I brood (but not as much as I used to). Sometimes I talk to myself (but only when no one else is around, and it's not even "me" I'm talking to, it-- never mind).
Part 2: Growing Up
15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
My childhood was fairly normal, though much shorter than what people today consider "childhood."
16. What is your earliest memory?
My mother taking me down to the docks, pointing to a ship in the harbor, and telling me my father owned and sailed on it. I was very proud.
17. How much schooling have you had?
Formal schooling through age 14 - that's about middle school range now, isn't it? Self-taught, some time after that.
18. Did you enjoy school?
I did, although at the time I was more interested in... other things.
19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
Self-taught, for the most part, or studying around the world. Some of my 'abilities,' i.e. strength, reflexes, etc, are natural for vampires.
20. While growing up, did you have any role models?
My parents. For better or worse.
21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
I got along fine with my mother, though as I grew older she became more of a non-entity. I actually got along alright with my father, until he started disapproving of how I was "turning out." I loved my little sister, with all my heart.
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A travelling artist.
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
Playing. Drawing. Cooking (helping my mother cook)
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
Friendly. Quiet. Artistic. Intuitive. Inquisitive. Observant.
25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
I only had a few friends as a child, partly because I was quiet and small, and partly because my father didn't think I should associate with "those of a lesser station".
26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
Fiona NicCampbell, I was... 16, I believe.
27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
The short answer would be no, definitely not. I was 18, and even though I know she's long gone, I won't reveal her name. She deserves respect, she was a wonderful girl.
28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
I was in a local tavern, making a nuisance of myself, as usual. I got kicked out, but was still looking for a good time, in one form or another. I was also rather intoxicated (also as usual). I was approached by a beautiful woman who offered to show me the world, let me be her travel companion. I agreed. She bit me. When I woke up, I was... different.
3: Past Influences
29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
I've had a lot.
The birth of my son.
30. Who has had the most influence on you?
The most? Buffy. Cordelia. Wesley, Gunn and Fred. Faith.
31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I'd like to say "saving the world," but I've come to understand that's not really possible. Destroying the Black Thorn, if I had to name something.
32. What is your greatest regret?
Losing my son, not being able to save him from Holtz.
33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
Name it, I've done it. Maybe even with my soul.
34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
Possibly. There was a detective who kept a case file on me, but I've never been convicted of anything.
35. When was the time you were the most frightened?
When my son was in danger.
36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
Oh, really? I... I'm over 250 years old, I can't just pick something. And I wouldn't tell you, anyway.
37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
I've tried changing the past, it only gives you different things to regret and wonder "what if".
I wouldn't have taken back that day. I don't care how it would have ended. We both deserved it.
38. What is your best memory?
Connor's birth. Buffy's birthday.
24 hours.
39. What is your worst memory?
Connor, afterward. Buffy, afterward.
Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions

Someone in my family dying (I don't necessarily mean biological family).
42. What are your religious views?
Catholic. I know-- vampire. Still. Catholic.
43. What are your political views?
I don't really have any. Independent? I don't pay much attention to politics. I've noticed a surprising amount of politicians are evil and/or demons, though.
44. What are your views on sex?
Be careful. It's fun, and wonderful with someone you love. And nice with someone you care about.
45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
Yes. I think it's unacceptable to kill someone defenseless.
46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
The human imagination and the human capacity for evil is limitless. I couldn't name one thing.
47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
Yes.
48. What do you believe makes a successful life?
Being proud of what you've accomplished, and somehow leaving your mark on the world.
49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
I'm... retiscent, about my feelings. My thoughts are my own. I've gotten better about voicing both, but I still tend to keep to myself.
50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
I'm sure I do. But they're more toward individuals than against a race, or species, or gender or anything of that nature. I suppose I do still have a tendency to underestimate females, despite having seen what some teenage girls are capable of (both Slayer and non). I might have a slight prejudice against lawyers.
51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances?
I'd like to answer yes... but I can't. Under certain circumstances, I'm capable of anything.
52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
This would be "any circumstance". Buffy. Cordelia. Connor. Faith. Anyone I thought deserved to live.
Part 5: Relationships With Others
53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)?
I tend to keep people at a distance. Again, I'm trying to work on that. I'm a work-in-progress.
54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
Buffy. Cordelia. Connor. I love them. What other reason is there?
55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
That's like asking someone which of their children is their favorite.
Buffy, because I've seen what she's faced, been what she's faced, and I've seen how strong she is.
Cordelia, because I know what she's had to endure, and I've seen how much she's grown as a person.
Faith, because I know what she's gone through, I know what a steep uphill battle she's fighting, and anyone who can withstand it is... stronger than I am.
56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend?
Cordelia. Faith. Buffy. Wesley. Fred.
57. Do you have a spouse or significant other?
No.
58. Have you ever been in love?
Yes.
59. What do you look for in a potential lover?
Kind. Strong. Playful. Passionate. Understanding.
60. How close are you to your family?
My biological family's dead, except for my son. I don't see him that often, he has his own family. I consider my friends my family, and we're... reconnecting.
61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?
Sort of? It wasn't on purpose, but I wouldn't change it. My son Connor, he's 26. Or 9, depending on how you look at it.
62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
Buffy. Faith.
63. Do you trust anyone to protect you?
Not just anyone. Let's just say I have trust issues, and leave it at that. I trust Faith, and Buffy.
64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
Is anyone else getting tired of me listing the same names? Actually, until recently, I was "missing," since I was in hiding/on the run. So, Buffy, Faith, Cordelia, Fred...
65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
Person? You mean living, or rather, not in-the-ground dead? Spike. Because he's Spike. He's obnoxious, and a jackass and he slept with Buffy when I couldn't.
66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
If I think I'm right, and/or the other person is wrong, I'll argue with them.
67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
In social situations, no. I'm a wallflower-kinda guy. In combat situations, yes.
68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
No. I prefer being on my own. It's what I'm used to. People get on my nerves.
69. Do you care what others think of you?
A little. I try not to let what they think bother me. But of course it does sometimes, because I'm human-- or some facsimile thereof.
Part 6: Likes And Dislikes
70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
Reading. Drawing. I won't tell you what I did for fun without my soul.
71. What is your most treasured possession?
A teddy bear, and a ring.
72. What is your favorite color?
Scarlet.
73. What is your favorite food?
Vampire. I only eat/drink one thing. Although if I had to pick one human food... Cookie-dough-fudge-mint-chip ice cream.
74. What, if anything, do you like to read?
The classics. Anything. Except erotica. That's just cruel.
75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?
A good book. Some movies (but probably not anything recent). The ballet.
76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs?
None, at the moment. I have smoked in the past, and when I was human, I drank a lot. I've never-- I've never voluntarily done drugs.
77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
Helping the helpless. Or reading/relaxing.
78. What makes you laugh?
Hmm... That's difficult to answer.
79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
Injustice offends me. I haven't been shocked in a long time.
80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?
Brood Draw.
81. How do you deal with stress?
Fight. As someone great once said, "Kicking ass is comfort food."
82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
Depends on what you're talking about. In everyday life, I like to have a plan. In a fight... I'd like to say I need/have a plan, but I'm rather spontaneous... with mixed results.
83. What are your pet peeves?
When someone all-but shuts the water faucet off, and it still drips--really--slowly. I can hear that, anywhere in the hotel, and it drives me crazy. Someone not taking serious matters seriously (or at least acting like they aren't). I know I have more. Doesn't everyone have a huge list of pet peeves?
Part 7: Self Images And Etc.
84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
It's... routine. Technically, during the day, I sleep. At night, I eat, maybe drive, if I'm travelling, gather information, fight... it depends on the day-- er, night.
85. What is your greatest strength as a person?
My sense of humor. No, I'd have to say... my resilience, I suppose. My ability to focus on the main problem, no matter what else is happening.
86. What is your greatest weakness?
My emotions.
87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Are we talking physically, or something else? 'Cause, I'd like to get rid of the whole "burns in daylight" thing.
88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
Introvert.
89. Are you generally organized or messy?
Organized.
90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
I consider myself to be good at fighting, drawing, and... brooding overthinking.
I guess I'm bad at... letting others make decisions, showing my emotions, and... sometimes, seeing what's right in front of me.
91. Do you like yourself?
Which self? Sometimes.
92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons...)
People need help, and I can help them.
I started helping people as penance, trying to atone for hurting so many people in my past. Maybe a part of me still does it for that reason, but mostly, I do it because I know it's the right thing to do.
93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
My lifetime's pretty long. I guess I don't have an ultimate goal, anymore. I just take one day at a time, and try to help people.
94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I could be anywhere.
95. If you could choose, how would you want to die?
Fighting.
96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
Tell my friends I love them. Tell my son I love him and I'm proud of him. ...I'm not sure what else there is. Make love to Buffy.
97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
I was a good man.
98. What three words best describe your personality?
Introspective. Artistic. Emotional.
99. What three words would others probably use to describe you?
Intense. Dangerous. Broody.
[[OOC: 100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character?]]
I realize still waters run deep. Stop running so deep! Get over it!
