OOC: Wide World of 'Verses
Post-series personal canon: My personal take on what happened after Not Fade Away.
After surviving the battle against Wolfram & Hart's legion of demons, a severely injured Angel lay low, rebuilding his strength. Ironically, he did this in the same hotel he still owned, the Hyperion. While recuperating, he was visited by a messenger for the Powers That Be. She told him that, because he gave up his cause for fighting, his redemption and humanity, yet continued to fight for what he believed in, the Powers were giving him a gift. He could never become human now, but the Powers could restore his soul to him, permanently.
Angel, still hurting, both physically from the battle and emotionally from losing all his friends, somehow refrains from telling the Messenger to kiss his ass. He accepts the gift, as graciously as he can, and doesn't really think much more of it. At this point, his soul being permanent is not an issue, as he feels he'll never be happy again, let alone completely content with his life.
Once he's healed, Angel decides he can't just wallow in misery forever, however much he'd like to. His friends wouldn't want that for him, and he wants to honor their memories. So he continues fighting. He knows Wolfram & Hart is still supremely upset about his coup, so he has to stay completely off their radar. He begins travelling. Sometimes, he stumbles across someone in need of saving, or demons in need of killing. He starts meeting people, making contacts, and reconnecting with humanity...
ETA: He has recently gone back to the Hyperion, deciding either Wolfram & Hart has bigger fish to damn, or even if they are still searching for him, they wouldn't look so close to home, or in such an obvious spot. He is still protecting the innocent.
[This is how I play Angel outside of any verse. If he's never met/talked to someone before, I'll probably play him either like this, or from the Past Changes verse, found below.]
I Love New York: played with angelbuffy .
Takes place about 5 years after Not Fade Away. Angel meets up with Buffy, and they begin talking. She tells him Giles is sending her to New York on a reconnaisance mission. Buffy asks him to go with her, ostensibly because he's been there before and knows how to get around better. Angel agrees, saying it's just two people, both following rumors to the same place. And then Angel decides to tell her about his soul...
They decide to try their relationship one more time. Both of them acting like adults, this time.
The Odd Couple: played with
score_forlogic.
Angel meets up with Xander during his travels. Xander mentions being purposeless now, and somehow they end up becoming travelling partners. (I honestly don't remember how this happened but it's in a thread in my journal, somewhere!)

The Hunters: played with magicandrain.
Natalia was in L.A. on assignment when she and Angel met. When she found herself in need of lodging, Angel offered her a room at the hotel. Plenty of UST, and thanks to Angel's enthusiasm for Christmas decorating, and some cheap mistletoe, some RST, and plenty of angst all over the place.
Done Baking: played with gr8muppetyodin.
Buffy reveals (anonymous, at first) that she still misses Angel, and wants to see him. He tells her his soul is permanent, now. She thinks they should 'celebrate'. Angel agrees.
I Still Love You: played with original_slayer.
Umm... just what the name says.
Broken Reflections: played with itwillchoke, played here. An AU Season 6 of BtVS... with the twist that, Angel never decided to leave, and instead stayed in Sunnydale, working to maintain a relationship with Buffy. Starts at the beginning of S6, when Buffy is first brought back from the dead. Changes in Canon will be retconned throughout the story.
Undying Love: played with oncetheslayer. Angel discovers that shortly after the Slayer Revolution, Buffy was turned into a vampire. But he still can't help but find himself drawn to her, and the feeling appears to be mutual...
Past Changes: played with little_buffy, played here, with links to whatever's played elsewhere.
While taking care of a group of vampires, Angel runs into a fifteen-year-old, yet to be Called Buffy. He's determined to protect her from the harsher aspects of being the Slayer... like dying. She's enamored of him, and he has to keep reminding himself that she's only fifteen.
Weep Not for The Memories: played with the_golden_girl. Set after the Angel Season 1 Episode "I Will Remember You", and based on a rather simple premise: What if, after Angel erased his day as a human, Buffy also remembered, and simply pretended not to? Oh, and what if she was pregnant? ^_^
{A guilty pleasure verse for both muns, and after Past Changes, probably the verse Angel will be most active in.}
